‘Psyren’ Anime Series Announces Additional Voice Cast

Following the project announcement and first teaser release, REMOW Co. Ltd. announced three additional Japanese voice actors have joined the cast of Psyren. Based on the psychic battle action manga by Toshiaki Iwashiro (serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2008 to 2010) and nominated three times for the event’s ‘Manga We Want to See Animated’ ranking, the new series is set to debut this year through Japanese broadcasters and global streamers.

Synopsis: One day, high schooler Ageha Yoshina picks up a mysterious “red phone card” left behind in a public telephone booth. A few days later, his childhood friend and classmate, Sakurako Amamiya — who possessed the same card —  suddenly vanishes without a trace.

In search of her, Ageha finds himself drawn into the rumors surrounding a nationwide string of mysterious disappearances, said to be the work of a secret organization known only as “Psyren.” When he accesses the group, a deadly game begins — one that will change his fate forever.

Shunsuke Takeuchi (Gachiakuta, Kaiju No. 8) will voice Hiryu Asaga, a high school student the same age as Ageha Yoshina and Sakurako Amamiya.

“This is a series fans have long wished to see animated, and I’m thrilled to finally help bring it to life!” said Takeuchi. “Hiryu’s constantly being dragged along while bickering with Ageha, and I’m full of excitement to deliver that dynamic. I believe the anime beautifully captures the essence of the original, so please look forward to it! Stand tall — Spiky Dragon Hair!”

Soma Saito (Beyblade X, Rurouni Kenshin) takes on the role of Oboro Mochizuki, a popular actor who, despite his friendly appearance, recklessly pursues the thrill of life.

I’ve loved the original manga for a long time and had always   hoped it would get an anime adaptation someday — so I’m   truly overjoyed to be involved as the voice of my absolute favorite character,” Saito shared in the announcement. “As a fan myself, I can’t wait for the broadcast to begin! I truly  hope many people will tune in and enjoy it.”

Last but not least, Yukihiro Nozuyama (Record of Ragnarok, Tokyo Revengers) was announced as the voice of Kabuto Kirisaki, a carefree troublemaker who loves money — and girls!

Nozuyama said, “I’ve poured my heart into bringing out all sides of his charm — his sharp wit, his cuteness, his coolness. I gave it my all in the recording booth, facing it head-on, without running away! Everyone — this is the anime adaptation we’ve all been waiting for, isn’t it?”

The new additions join previously announced voice stars Rikuya Yasuda, portraying protagonist Ageha Yoshina, and Mayuko Kazama as Sakurako Amamiya.

Psyren is produced by studio Satelight and directed by Katsumi Ono (Symphogear), with series composition by Shin Yoshida (Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise), character design by Akira Okuma, and music by Takashi Ohmama, Tatsuhiko Saiki and Shu Kanematsu.

A Special Stage Event for the Psyren will be held at AnimeJapan 2026, taking place at Tokyo Big Sight on Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29. Joining  Yasuda and Kazama onstage will the be newly announced cast members, marking the first time the main cast will appear together in one place! There might even be brand-new announcements revealed during the event…

The Psyren spotlight will be held March 28 from 11:15-11:45 a.m. on the White Stage.
