Warner Bros. Japan LLC has confirmed that the new anime series STEEL BALL RUN JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is coming exclusively on Netflix on March 19, 2026. The series’ episode starts with one special 47-minute episode: “1st Stage.” Alongside the streaming premiere announcement, the new main trailer and new characters have been revealed.
Synopsis: It’s 1890, in America, the Steel Ball Run — the first horse racing championship across the North American continent — is about to begin. Spanning around 4,000 miles, the race offers 50 million dollars as the winning prize.
Johnny Joestar, once hailed as a genius jockey, is now paralyzed and lost in despair. He finds hope in the mysterious phenomena caused by Gyro Zeppeli, an outlaw aiming to win the race, and determines to participate in the Steel Ball Run.
Each having their own goal in mind, the two form an alliance and set foot upon the grueling adventure and race.
Animated by david production, which has handled every JoJo series to date, STEEL BALL RUN is overseen by directors Yasuhiro Kimura and Hideya Takahashi (Golden Wind), with series director Toshiyuki Kato (Stone Ocean, Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan) and series structure crafted by Yasuko Kobayashi (every JoJo series). The core creative team also includes character designer Daisuke Tsumagari (Stone Ocean, Golden Wind), composer Yugo Kanno (Stardust Crusaders, Diamond Is Unbreakable, Golden Wind, Stone Ocean) and sound director Yoshikazu Iwanami (another veteran of every JoJo series).

Determined to uncover the secret of this phenomenon, he decides to participate in the Steel Ball Run Race alongside Gyro.

Gyro Zeppeli – Voiced by Yohei Azakami
A mysterious outlaw participating in the Steel Ball Run Race to accomplish his own purpose. By imbuing his steel ball with the technique of “spin” and manipulating it, he can cause various strange phenomena.

Diego Brando – Voiced by Kaito Ishikawa
A genius jockey known as the Prince of British Horse Racing, and one of the favorites to win the Steel Ball Run Race. Commonly known as Dio. He is a cold-blooded, ambitious man with strong upward aspirations, who will resort to underhanded means to win the races.
Riding horse: Silver Bullet.
Lucy Steel – Voiced by Rie Takahashi
The wife of Steven Steel, organizer of the Steel Ball Run race. Despite the couple’s significant age gap, she provides him with emotional support. She bears a striking resemblance to Steven’s first love.
Steven Steel – Voiced by Kenta Miyake
The initiator of the Steel Ball Run Race, the first ever horseback race to cross the North American continent in history of mankind. He is a seasoned promoter with a 40-year career.
Sand Man – Voiced by Masaaki Mizunaka
A determined young man who joins the Steel Ball Run Race for its immense amount of prize money, aiming to reclaim his tribe’s land. He is an extraordinary runner who participates in the race relying solely on his own legs, without riding a horse.
Pocoloco – Voiced by Kenichiro Matsuda
A farmer who participates in the Steel Ball Run Race for the prize money after a fortune teller predicted he had one-in-five-billion luck during the race period. Despite his extremely carefree personality, he sidesteps trouble after trouble with his astonishing luck.
