TV writer-producer Saladin Patterson has renewed his overall deal with Disney-owned 20th Television and 20th Television Animation, continuing a run of deals with the former studio going back to 2019. Their latest agreement will see Patterson to develop, write and executive produce original live-action and animated series for linear networks and streamers, especially for the Disney Entertainment Television outlets; he has several projects in development within the Disney TV sphere.
Saladin will also continue to serve as executive producer and showrunner on Hulu’s King of the Hill revival, which he co-developed with original creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels. The show brought back the hit animated sitcom after 15 years, launching a 14th season in August. The return to Arlen, Texas came in at No. 2 on Nielsen’s Top 10 overall streaming chart in its opening week, with the 10 new episodes accounting for 77% of the full series catalog’s 1.21 billion minutes streamed in the U.S. The complete King of the Hill series has garnered more than 1 billion hours streams across Hulu/Disney+ since it arrived on the platform in November 2018.
King of the Hill has received a 20-episode renewal order for Seasons 16 and 17. The 15th season (10 episodes) will premiere on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ next year.
In addition to King of the Hill, Patterson’s prior animation experience includes writing for turn-of-the-millennium adult claymation comedy The PJs. In live action, he created, exec produced and showran The Wonder Years reboot (ABC), has been serving as a consulting producer on Shifting Gears (ABC), was EP/showrunner on Dave (FX) and The Last O.G. (TBS). Additional credits include The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men (CBS), Psych (USA), Frasier (NBC) and The Bernie Mac Show (FOX).
Patterson is represented by CAA and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
