The year 2026 will see the iconic Star Trek franchise celebrate its 60th anniversary on Star Trek Day (Sept. 8, 2026.) Today, in celebration of this year’s Star Trek Day, it was announced that the festivities will officially begin in January 2026, with notable partnerships, new content launches and memorable moments throughout the year.
The 60th anniversary celebrates “Space for Everybody,” extending an open invitation to celebrate the future that Star Trek aspires to: a future of hope, a future of exploration and a future where we rise to the challenge to be bold.
Among the highlights announced today is the launch of Star Trek Scouts on YouTube. The short-form animated series (3-4 min. episodes) is the first-ever preschool extension of the Star Trek universe, and debuts with two episodes available to watch now on Nickelodeon’s Blaze and the Monster Machines YouTube channel. The rest of the 20-episode order will roll out into 2026.
What else is Star Trek unwrapping ahead of its big birthday bash?
- Star Trek will kick off the year-long celebrations on January 1 with a customized float at the annual Rose Parade in Pasadena, Calif. The float will feature the upcoming live-action series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy while honoring the franchise’s history and reflecting the values of hope, inclusivity, exploration and unity.
- Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, a new series which introduces a young group of cadets who come together to pursue their dreams, on their journey to become Starfleet officers. Academy Award winner Holly Hunter stars as the Chancellor of the
Starfleet Academy and the Captain of the U.S.S. Athena, with Academy Award nominee Paul Giamatti recurring as the season’s villain.
- Star Trek will partner with DoSomething, the national hub for youth-centered leadership and service, for “Boldly Go Green,” a 2026 campaign centered on making an environmental impact in multiple locations.
- Announced earlier this morning, the Lego Group and Paramount announced their first-ever collaboration to bring the world of Star Trek to life in LEGO brick form.
- Star Trek will enter the digital comic space with WEBTOON in 2026, engaging the platform’s audience of approximately 155 million monthly active users across 150+ countries with new stories based on the franchise.
- Star Trek: Khan, an all-new scripted podcast, launches today, Sept. 8. The show explores the untold events on Ceti Alpha V, chronicling Khan’s descent from a superhuman visionary into the vengeful villain seen in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Naveen Andrews (Lost) voices Khan Noonien Singh, joined by Wrenn Schmidt (For All Mankind) as Lieutenant Marla McGivers, Sonya Cassidy (Reacher) as Dr. Rosalind Lear, Star Trek veteran Tim Russ reprising his role as Ensign Tuvok and the legendary George Takei as Captain Sulu. New episodes will be available weekly on Mondays through Nov. 3, streaming on all major podcast platforms, and the official Star Trek YouTube channel.
- Star Trek: The Cruise will set sail Feb. 20-27, 2026, offering fans a week filled with once-in-a- lifetime experiences in celebration of the franchise’s 60th anniversary. Joining the voyage are legacy Star Trek actors William Shatner and Walter Koenig, along with more than 20 actors from across the Star Trek universe, who will commemorate the milestone alongside fans with special events and activities honoring six decades of iconic shows and films.
- Star Trek will also launch the official anniversary website — StarTrek.com/60 — the home for the yearlong celebration. The site will provide a look at the calendar of activities including new partnerships, events and opportunities for fan participation. Fans can visit the website and sign up to be among the first to learn about special events, new merchandise and more.
