Disney Helps Kids Make Cartoons

Aspiring animators can now get a head start with Disney Interactive’s Disney Magic Artist Cartoon Maker. Aimed ages six and up, the CDROM is packaged with Disney’s Magic Artist Deluxe software and allows anyone to create their own animated shorts, complete with music, visual effects, props, titles and credits.

Users can choose from more than 450 characters, backgrounds and special audio and visual effects found in the “Creation Area” or import original artwork with Magic Artist Deluxe. Productions can then be exported as QuickTime movies.

In addition to learning by doing, kids can pick up valuable animation tips through interviews with famous Disney artist Andreas Deja and legendary Disney animators, Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston.

• Ani-brush: Animates hidden magic hotspots in the background

• Prop Dropper: Places a variety of animated props within cartoons

• Noise Maker: Adds sound and voice effects

• Tickle Tool: Tickles characters and makes them laugh

• Poster Tool: Allows names to be added to the credits

Disney Magic Artist Cartoon Maker and Disney Magic Artist Deluxe CDROMs are Windows 95/98/ME/XP and Macintosh compatible.

Suggested retail price: $19.99.
