Hit Japanese animated comedy Yo-Kai Watch will make its U.S. debut on Disney XD when it premieres Monday, October 5 at 5 p.m. ET/PT. New episodes will launch each day through October 9, followed by weekly Monday evening debuts at 5. Plus, each episode will be available on WATCH Disney XD the day after its TV premiere.
The original series was created by LEVEL-5, Inc. which produces the show with Dentsu Inc. and TV Tokyo Corporation. The U.S. voice cast includes Johnny Yong Bosch as Nate, J.W. Terry as Whisper, Alicyn Packard as Jibanyan, Melissa Hutchison as Katie, Pierre Holloway as the Teacher and Manjimutt, and Brent Pendergrass as Nate’s friend, Eddie.
Ever have a day where nothing went right? Was it bad luck? Nope! That was the work of the Yo-kai, beings who cause life’s daily annoyances. With the Yo-kai Watch on his wrist, Nate, an average fifth grader, along with his Yo-kai companions Jibanyan and Whisper — can now communicate with the Yo-kai. There’s just one problem – they’re everywhere, and they love to cause mischief!
The Yo-Kai Watch franchise will continue a U.S. rollout well into 2016 with manga from VIZ Media’s Perfect Square launching Nov. 3, a Nintendo 3DS game arriving Nov. 6, and a line from Hasbro coming in January to the U.S. and Australia that includes toys, games and digital experiences centered around collectible medals representing unique Yo-kai.
