Warner Nabs U.K. Skunk Fu! Rights

Warner Music Group has licensed the U.K. DVD rights for the first season of the animated series Skunk Fu! from U.K.-based intellectual property owner, developer and manager Galleon Holdings plc. This is the first U.K. licensing deal for the property, which launched to strong ratings on BBC 1 last month. The show airs weekdays at 3:50 p.m. and can be found on CBBC on weekends.

Skunk Fu! consists of 52 13-minute episodes and is aimed at kids 6-12. The series follows the adventures of a skunk who is accidentally dropped into China by a wayward stork as a child and has to learn the ways of kung fu in order to defend the animals of the valley from an evil mountain dragon and his hench-monkeys.

The series has already been sold in 35 territories. Broadcasters on board include Canal J in France, Super RTL in Germany, RAISAT in Italy, ABC in Australia, TG4 in Ireland, SVT in Sweden, RTBF in Belgium and Cartoon Network I Australia and Asia. Deals for the U.S. and Norway will be announced soon, according to Galleon CEO Stephen Green.

Skunk Fu! is produced by Cartoon Saloon and distributed worldwide by Cake Distribution, a subsidiary of Cake Ent. Galleon is a joint owner of the property and controls worldwide licensing and merchandising rights.
