‘Simpsons’ Offers Charlie Hebdo Tribute

The Simpsons paid special tribute in last night’s episode to the victims of last week’s violence in Paris that killed 12 at the offices of the satirical cartoon magazine Charlie Hebdo with a three-second silent shot of Maggie waving a “Je suis Charlie” flag.

The short clip occurred just before the last ad break of the episode, a new episode written by Judd Apatow titled “Bart’s Best Friend.” Apatow wrote the episode 24 years ago.

The short image of Maggie evokes French artist Eugene Delacroix’s famous painting Liberty Leading the People.
