Independent animation houses Honeycomb Animation and Elephant Prods. have teamed up to launch a new company dubbed Grizzly TV. The first project for the venture will be The Crystal Eye, a New Year TV special based on the award winning series, Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids, which Elephant and Honeycomb produced for ITV.
The Crystal Eye is described as a humorous, modern-day cautionary tale in which a selfish child named Fick gets his comeuppance and learns a lesson he will never forgets. The special promises to bring the series back bigger, better and even more gruesome than ever.
Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids is based on a childrens book by Jamie Rix with illustrations by Sara and Simon Bor. The series was one of CITVs highest-rated animated programs when season four debuted last May. The broadcaster is now repeating episodes of the show, which has picked up more than 10 major awards, including Best Animated Series and Children’s Choice at this years British Animation Awards.
