With video games stealing adult male audiences away from broadcasters during primetime hours, it was a smart move for UPN to bring the world of interactive entertainment to the tube. The new CG action/comedy series Game Over premieres tonight, March 10, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT).
The Smashenburns are the typical American family, aside from the fact that they make their living being video game characters. Patrick Warburton (The Tick, Seinfeld, The Emporers New Groove) voices patriarch Rip Smashenburn, a Grand Prix racecar driver, while Lucy Liu (Kill Bill Vol. 1, Charlies Angels) plays his tomb-raiding wife, Raquel. The shows plots revolve around the pairs struggle to balance their demanding professional careers and their roles as parents to teenagers Alice (Saturday Night Lives Rachel Dratch) and Billy (Rugrats veteran E.G. Daily). Rounding out the cast is Arty Lange (The Howard Stern Show, Dirty Work) as the cigar-smoking, pawn shop-robbing family pet, Turbo, who joins the gang in the premiere episode. Other characters include the fighting Shaolin monks next door, zombies and anime love interests.
A encore presentation will air on Friday, March 12, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT). To view the trailer and see a special featurette on the animation process, visit www.upn.com/shows/game_over.
