Forget March Madness. How about MIP Madness? It continues apace today as, among other things, Santa Barbara-based Foothill Entertainment, Inc. unveils the two completed pilots it’s bringing to MIP-TV 2006 along with an expanded slate of family entertainment offerings.
The company will be looking to close deals with its co-production partners on the animated pre-school series set in the Amazon jungle, Snapper, and the surreal fantasy series, Gododo.
As with most animated fare these days, Snapper is the cartoon world’s version of a Euro-pudding film production. The property was created by UK based Phew!!, produced at Malaysian CGI studio POV/Fat Lizard and distributed by U.S. based Foothill.
‘When POV approached us with the idea of creating a financing structure with the backing of the Malaysian government, we knew that the international appeal of Snapper made it a natural choice to be the first program through that pipeline,’ says Foothill president, Jo Kavanagh-Payne.
Foothill is also bringing Gododod to the market, a short pilot from Phew!! Following the hilarious quest of Dodo, the last dodo on Earth, and his trusty companion Ducky, the show presents unique life lessons while following the seemingly meaningless meanderings of this not-quite extinct bird. The 3D animation is by India-based animation player DQ Entertainment.
Foothill is also announcing two separate co-development arrangements with Create Media Ventures. Foothill and Create will be collaborating to develop, produce and exploit multi-media programming for LA-based phuuz entertainment’s pre-school property Iconicles as well as the girl-lead property Tutu Lulu from New Zealand’s Papageno Productions.
