Cosgrove Hall Films has inked a deal to produce an interstitial series titled Eddie Retractorhead exclusively for Nickelodeon U.K. The set of 10 one minute-long cartoons will begin airing in 2008 and may evolve into a long -form series if they prove popular with the network’s viewers.
Eddie is a manic and excitable guy born of space snot and pie, who likes nothing better than to talk about himself. He lives in an inflatable pie house with his best friend, Blam Blob, in Area 52, a special place that attracts only the weirdest and craziest characters. The series follows the surreal misadventures of this lovable, accident-prone duo as they set out to become famous.
‘These short-form animated interstitials are an ideal way to launch the Eddie Retractorhead brand into the marketplace, and the versatile format lends itself to exploitation across both traditional and digital platforms such as online and mobile,’ says Anthony Utley, managing director for Cosgrove Hall Films. ‘We look forward to working with Nickelodeon, who share our belief in this exciting new brand, and together we will build this fantastic new show into a global kids’ favorite.’
