Comedy Central has put in an order with executive producers Bento Box Entertainment for 10 episodes of its original, urban coming-of-age animated tale Legends of Chamberlain Heights. The announcement was made by CC’s president of original programming, Kent Alterman, and the series is set to debut in 2016.
Legends of Chamberlain Heights mixes raucous comedy and social commentary as it follows the exploits of three high school freshman: Jamal, Grover and Milk. The trio tackle life with some wins and some losses, but failure doesn’t faze them since they’re legends … even if only in their own minds. The characters were inspired by retired UCLA Bruins basketball players Quinn Hawking and Josiah Johnson.
From the studio behind Bob’s Burgers and The Awesomes, Legends is created by Brad Ableson, Mike Clements, Quinn Hawking, Josiah Johnson and Michael Starrbury. Ableson, Clements and Starrbury also serve as exec producers with Scott Greenberg, Joel Kuwahara and Mark McJimsey.
