Clip: Retta Guest Stars in S2 Premiere of ‘Duncanville’ Sunday

The second season of animated comedy Duncanville — created by Emmy Award and Golden Globe winner Amy Poehler and Emmy winners Mike and Julie Scully — is ready to bring more coming-of-age quirks to screens starting this weekend! The new season will have a two-part premiere this Sunday, May 23 on FOX, with new episodes then shifting to their regular time slot on Mondays beginning May 31.

S2’s debut episode “Das Banana Boot, airing at 8:30 p.m., it’s a regular Parks and Recreation reunion as guest stars Adam Scott, Aubrey Plaza, Retta and Nick Offerman join Amy Poehler (who stars as Duncan and mom Annie) and Rashida Jones (Mia). Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) also guests in the new episode.

In “Das Banana Boot,” Duncan avoids summer school for the first time, and the family goes on vacation. On their getaway, Annie and Jack (Ty Burrell) are haunted by another vacation couple, while Duncan agonizes over Mia’s Instagram, and Kimberly (Rikki Lindhome) gets a glow-up in Part One of the one-hour season premiere. Check out the magic Retta’s character works on Kimberly’s looks — if not her tipping etiquette — in the exclusive clip below:

The hour-long premiere continues with “Duncan’s New Word” at 9:30 p.m.: Duncan says the one thing no kid should ever say to their dad, which shifts their power dynamic and forces Jack to confront his own father. Meanwhile, Kimberly and Jing have a window to do whatever they want, as Annie and Jack deal with Duncan’s issue.

Recently renewed for a third season, Duncanville follows a spectacularly average 15-year-old boy, his family and friends. Duncan can see adulthood on the horizon: money, freedom, cars, girls… but the reality is more like: always being broke, driving with your mom sitting shotgun and babysitting your little sister. He’s not exceptional, but he has a wild imagination in which he’s never anything less than amazing. The series also features the voices of Grammy Award and Golden Globe Award nominee Wiz Khalifa as Mr. Mitch, the universally loved teacher/guidance counselor, occasional gym coach and school nurse; Joy Osmanski as Jing, Duncan’s six-year-old sister; and Betsy Sodaro, Yassir Lester and Zach Cherry as his friends Bex, Yangzi and Wolf, respectively.
