CAKE Inks Int’l Boomerang Deal for TeamTO’s ‘Take It Easy Mike’

Kids entertainment specialist CAKE announces an agreement which will see French-produced slapstick CG comedy Take It Easy Mike air internationally on Turner’s Boomerang (as well as its other kid channels Cartoon Network, Boing and POGO in select markets) starting in late 2018. The 78 x 7 min., dialog-free series from TeamTO pre-sold to France Televisions and Super RTL earlier this year.

“This international acquisition continues our strategy to build a strong pipeline of content for Boomerang, with shows that are rooted in multi-generational, comedy animation true to the channel. Take it Easy Mike also marks our latest investment in European-produced content, which we’ve increased by around 30% compared to last year,” said Cecilia Persson, VP of Programming & Content Strategy, Turner EMEA Kids, Acquisitions & Co-Productions International.

Featuring photorealistic visuals, the shorts center on Mike: a refined pug with boundless energy and sophisticated tastes who’s set on seducing Cindy, the lovely neighbor’s dog. Sadly, his plans never seem to work out as a bunch of trouble-makers always interfere. Freddy and Mercury the racoons, Fluffy the cutest kitten and the turtle trio have a knack of showing up at the worst possible moments, dragging Mike into a series of unforeseen twists and turns!

“‘Boomerang have had great success with non-dialogue comedies and Take It Easy Mike, with its distinctive ‘cast’, unique visuals, technical sophistication and off-the-wall humour is sure to be a big hit with families all round the world,” notes Ed Galton, CCO & Managing Director of CAKE.

Take It Easy Mike is produced by TeamTO and Digital Dimension (Canada); CAKE handles worldwide distribution (excluding France, Germany and China).
