‘Robot Chicken’ Creators Add ‘Stoopid Monkey’ Via YouTube

The creators of Robot Chicken are bringing their unique brand of animated-toy humor to YouTube, launching a new content channel that will feature a new show called Stoopid Monkey.

Named for the production company behind the Adult Swim series Robot Chicken and Titan Maximum, the channel is a joint venture of Stoopid Monkey Productions’ Seth Green and Matthew Senreich with Joe Kavanagh, who launched the Harry Potter, Batman and Justice League action figure brands for Mattel.

Two new episodes of Stoopid Monkey will be released each Friday for ten weeks, beginning July 15, on the existing Stoopid Monkey channel on YouTube, located at youtube.com/stoopidmonkey. The new series was the result of a partnership with YouTube which began in 2010.

Stoopid Monkey is being directed by Buddy System’s John Harvatine IV, Eric Towner and David Brooks. Matthew Beans wrote and is producing the sketch shorts with Steve Tzirlin, former head of development for Lucasfilm, now in charge of action-adventure development for Fox’s emerging writers program; and Buddy System’s Nakia Trower-Shuman; and live-action producer Terence Liff. Ethan Marak is the animation supervisor and served as animation director on Robot Chicken and Harvatine is the DP.

The show follows the misadventures of Stoopid Monkey, Biggie and QT, voiced by Senreich, Green and Hillary Bergen, as they interact with real people. The on-screen role of Stoopid Monkey is shared by Jonathan Morgan Heit (Bedtime Stories) and Danny Woodburn (Seinfeld), Biggie by Brian Allen. All three actors are digitally replaced by the stop-motion animated characters using Buddy System’s “Stop-Live Animation” process.
