‘Gremlin Girl’ Is an Anxiety-Fueled Comedy in a 2D Doodle World

If you’ve ever spent too many hours laying awake rehashing each moment of your day (or week) (or entire life) in the worst possible light, you’ll get many sympathetic laughs out of a new animated YouTube series launched this week, Gremlin Girl, created by Emily Rifkin and Rebecca Warm.

The 2D doodle-inspired toon follows Franny, an independent, seemingly confident woman, and Gremlin Girl, the adorable manifestation of her anxieties. From stressing about the enduring consequences of adding avocado to your sandwich to worrying if you’re doing enough to save the polar ice caps, Gremlin Girl is a comedic take on all the ways we’re affected by our neuroses daily.

The creators are planning to release 13 episodes of this labor-of-love project. Luckily, they bring plenty of experience to the project: Rifkin is the show’s director and animator, and currently works as an animated editor at Disney TV Animation with credits including Mickey Mouse, Fancy Nancy and Elena of Avalor. Actor/writer Warm is part of the Big Party Show sketch comedy troupe that performs monthly in Hollywood, and alumna of the Groundlings’ Sunday Company, and recently works on TruTV’s You Can Do Better.
