‘Doers and Dreamers’ Digital Arts Scholarships Announced

WarnerMedia Access Canada and Think Tank Training Centre have partnered to sponsor five full-time tuition scholarships for the Think Tank Online 16-month Digital Asset Creation Program, starting on February 7, 2022. The scholarship competition was open to people of all genders, abilities, and identities from underrepresented communities in Canada, including but not limited to members of Indigenous, Black and racialized groups, people with disabilities, LGBTQ2+ and Francophone minority communities.

With more than 100 quality applications submitted, WarnerMedia Access Canada and Think Tank have awarded the scholarships to:

  • Alli Thornley from Victoria, BC
  • Brittany Blaker from Toronto, ON
  • Fatouma Mohamed from Toronto, ON
  • Aubrey Garcia from Toronto, ON
  • Alejandro Mondragon Martinez from Surrey, BC

These talented individuals will develop marketable skills, benefit from mentorship opportunities, and gain unprecedented connections to industry knowledge from the Think Tank community and WarnerMedia Access Canada executives and creatives.

“We had many exceptional applications, and it was definitely challenging to choose just five,” said Scott Thompson, Owner of Think Tank Training Centre. “Those awarded the scholarships showed talent, creativity and a desire to further their knowledge and skills – and we are excited to welcome them to Think Tank.”

“With so many qualified applications, we offered 50 percent scholarships to an additional 10 individuals,” he added. “The scholarships will advance the careers of these students in television, feature film, visual effects or video games through the opportunity to develop their digital art skills. We look forward to seeing what they will do as the Doers and Dreamers Digital Arts Scholarship recipients.”

Deanna Cadette, Executive Director of WarnerMedia Access Canada, commented, “This program is a wonderful addition to WarnerMedia Access Canada’s suite of innovative initiatives. With the rapid growth in career opportunities across animation, VFX and games, these students will learn invaluable skills that will set them up for success as they enter the industry. We are thrilled to partner with Think Tank Training Centre in breaking down barriers and expanding industry access for the next generation of talent.”
