Claudia Mazzucco has been named CEO of Italian production company Atlantyca Ent. The appointment was announced by chairman Pietro Marietti, who has also hired on Caterina Vacchi as senior manager and exec producer of the entertainment unit, which was established nearly a year ago to create new business opportunities for Atlantyca’s library of entertainment book properties. The company’s first production is the animated series Geronimo Stilton, based on the popular kid lit series.
As CEO, and Mazzucco will oversee all of the company’s initiatives, focusing on growth in the areas of business development, new content, animation development and production, licensing and merchandising, publishing foreign rights and new acquisitions, while managing the company’s various publishing properties and rights.
As the head of Atlantyca’s animation department, Vacchi will be responsible for overseeing all of the company’s development and production projects, starting with Geronimo Stilton. The show is a co-production between Atlantyca, Canada’s 9 Story Ent. and France’s Moonscoop Prods.
Mazzucco and Vacchi worked with Marietti at Edizioni Piemme, which Marietti once owned. Both serve on the Atlantyca board of directors with Marietti.
