Entertainment One (eOne), co-owners and worldwide distributors of global preschool hit Peppa Pig, has named Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana as the property’s exclusive licensing and branding agent across Canada in a new multi-year partnership. The show airs weekdays on Treehouse in the country, and will dramatically expand its footprint in North America with a wide-ranging consumer products line rolling out starting fall 2016.
The licensing program for Peppa Pig will include numerous categories. Licensees already on board are Jazwares (master toy partner), Revolution (bed & bath), JCorp (children’s apparel sizes 2-6x), Black and White (footwear & belts), Calego (hard case luggage, backpacks, totes), Amscan (party goods), Candlewick Press (jacketed hard cover, trade paperback & novelty books), Imagine Publications (French language publishing, coloring & activity books), The Canadian Group (games & puzzles) and Primary Colors (packaged fruit snacks, candy, cookies & crackers, assorted stationery). Additionally, eOne will launch Peppa Pig DVDs in Canada in 2016.
The branding initiative will also include consumer promotions, costume character appearances (through Daytime Enterprises) and more, supported by a popular website, two free apps (all platforms) and social media presence. The brand currently boasts more than 700 licensees worldwide, and the TV show airs in over 180 territories. The show is created by Astley Baker Davies Ltd. in London.
