After a limited North American theatrical run in February, the Oscar-nominated short films for 2007 make their way to home video today. The program includes a variety of festival-favorite animated films, as well as their live-action counterparts. A collection of 2007 Academy Award Nominated Short Films is joined in today’s raft of releases by episodes of the animated children’s program Madeline and a compilation of Greg the Bunny puppet movie parodies.
Films featured on the 2007 Academy Award Nominated Short Films disc include Suzie Templeton’s Oscar-winning stop-motion short Peter & the Wolf, Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski’s Madam Tutli-Putli, Samuel Tourneux and Simon Vanesse’s Meme Les Pigeons Vont Au Paradis (Even Pigeons Go to Heaven). The Magnolia Home Entertainment release carries a suggested retail price of $29.98.
Madeline: Next Stop America from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment offers three animated tales based on the books by Ludwig Bemelmans. The little French girl spends some time in the states and gets into all sorts of adventures in “Madeline in Hollywood,” “Madeline in New York” and “Madeline and the Wild West.” The disc lists for $14.98.
The Passion of Greg the Bunny: The Best of the Film Parodies Volume 2 has hand-puppet Greg the Bunny and pal Warren “The Ape” Demontague back to parody more of our favorite films with ‘Wacky Wednesday,’ ‘Blue Velveteen’ and ‘Plush: Behind The Seems.’ Listing for $19.99, the Shout! Factory disc also offers Fur on the Asphalt: The Greg the Bunny Reunion Special featuring Sarah Silverman, Seth Green, Adam Goldberg, Jon Favreau and more. Other extras include deleted scenes, outtakes a music video, interviews, never-before-seen clips from Greg the Bunny’s early days on public access TV, Greg the Bunny webisodes, commentary by the series creators, a gag reel and a behind-the-scenes photo gallery.
