Bam! Ent. Inc. has signed on as the exclusive North American distributor of the video game based on the Starsky & Hutch big-screen comic redo starring Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. The property is under license from Empire Interactive and Sony Pictures Consumer Products and the first title will be released this month for Nintendo’s GameCube and GameBoy Advance.
Fans of the movie and the 70s TV show on which it was based will be able to get behind the wheel of Starskys famous red-and-white 1974 Gran Torino and chase down criminals in this action game developed by Minds Eye Prods.
The GameCube version will feature more than 100 miles of Bay City roads, detailed 3D environments and funkadelic classic music tracks from the ’70s. A two-player cooperative mode will allow one player to drive while the other shoots using two controllers or a steering wheel and a light gun. A total of 18 mission-based episodes involve catching bank robbers, apprehending busloads of escaped convicts, escorting witnesses and hanging out with the infamous Huggy Bear. The Game Boy Advance version will include 24 mission-based episodes.
