Even more celeb guests and special pop culture engagements will be coming to cities across the U.S. this year. Newly added to the WW slate are Ghostbusters Fan Fest (Culver City, June 7-8), Los Angeles (June 8), Pittsburgh (July 26-28), and Bay Area (Oakland, CA; Nov. 22-24).

Maxon Acquires Redshift Rendering Technologies
Redshift has become an indispensable rendering solution for VFX, animation and game companies on projects including Black Panther, Aquaman, Captain Marvel, Rampage, American Gods and more.

“Rendering can be the most time consuming and demanding aspect of 3D content creation. Redshift’s speed and efficiency combined with Cinema 4D’s responsive workflow make it a perfect match for our portfolio.” — David McGavran, CEO of Maxon

“We’ve always admired Maxon and the Cinema 4D community, and are thrilled to be a part of it. We are looking forward to working closely with Maxon, collaborating on seamless integration of Redshift into Cinema 4D and continuing to push the boundaries of what’s possible with production-ready GPU rendering.” — Nicolas Burtnyk, Co-founder and CEO, Redshift Rendering Technologies

’Song of the South,’ ‘Dumbo’s Jim Crow Scene Will Not Be on Disney+
Surprisingly, casual racism and family-friendly entertainment are not synonymous here in the 21st century. “It wouldn’t be in the best interest of our shareholders to bring it back, even though there would be some financial gain,” Disney CEO Bob Iger said of the 1946 Song of the South, which won an Oscar for “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” and inspired Disneyland’s Splash Mountain. The film has never been released on home video in the U.S. due to its problematic portrayal of African-Americans. The Dumbo (1941) scene making light of the blackface “minstrel show” character and namesake of segregation laws was omitted from Tim Burton’s live-action reimagining, and will be cut from the original for streaming.
