‘Raised by Wolves’ Screenwriter Guzikowski to Pen ‘Death Stranding’ Animated Movie

Kojima Productions and Line Mileage announce acclaimed screenwriter Aaron Guzikowski (Raised by Wolves, Prisoners) will write a new adult animated feature film set in the universe of Hideo Kojima’s award-winning video game, Death Stranding. Currently in active development, the film will tell an original story set within the surreal world created by Kojima.

“I love the world of Death Stranding, it’s so creatively freeing, so beautifully dark and yet hopeful; I’m so excited and honored that Hideo Kojima, whose work I’ve long admired, has invited me to dwell within his creation, to birth new stories into this fertile, mind-bending universe,” said Guzikowski, whose sci-fi screenwriting has been praised as emotionally charged and philosophical, much like the game’s world. “Drawing and animation have always been near and dear to my heart, so to finally get to play in this space is a dream come true.”

The Death Stranding game, released in 2019, has amassed over 20 million players worldwide. The game’s story is set in the near future, where mysterious explosions have rocked the globe, setting off a series of supernatural events known as the Death Stranding. With otherworldly creatures plaguing the landscape, and mass extinction imminent, it’s up to Sam Porter Bridges to travel across the ravaged wasteland and save humanity from impending annihilation.

The original game featured performances from Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Guillermo Del Toro and more, with a sequel video game adding Elle Fanning to the mix set for a June 26 release. Visit kojimaproductions.jp for more information.

Guzikowski is represented by Verve, Lit Entertainment Group and attorney Jeff Frankel.

Line Mileage is represented by Garrett Legal.
