Fortiche, the France and Canarias-based animation studio behind Netflix’s award-winning League of Legends series Arcane, has announced a new mini-series project in partnership with ARTE (France/Germany). Titled Miss Saturne, the 2D animated Young Adult project is based on Barbara Israël’s novel of the same name.
The coming-of-age story follows three teens who run away from their lives in the French Riviera aboard a night train, set to the sounds of a 1980s New Wave mixtape.
From Fortiche:
1984 — Mercy has a passion: New Wave. Unfortunately, she lives in a bourgeois family in Nice! She has two best friends: Tom, gay and uncompromising, and Clara, fascinating and depressed. The three of them feel invincible, until the day…
The 10 x 10′ series is directed by Arcane veteran Anne Raffin and adapted by screenwriter Louise Silverio (Those Who Blush, Solitary Loves). The series is being developed by Fortiche, Les Storygraphes and Arte France as coproducer and broadcast partner, with the support of Pictanovo and France’s CNC.
Miss Saturne is targeted for production in 2026 and broadcast in 2027. Fortiche is seeking international partners across broadcaster, platforms, co-producers and distributors interested in bolstering their young adult animation lineups.
Fortiche is participating in this week’s Annecy Festival with a behind-the-scenes exhibition devoted to Arcane, which it co-produced with League of Legends creator Riot Games.
