Paramount Animation Shuffles Release Dates for ‘Airbender,’ ‘TMNT,’ ‘PAW Patrol’ Movies

Unspecified delays in physical animation production have spurred Paramount Animation to delay the releases of The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and the sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, while pushing forward the release of PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie. All three films will be released by Paramount Pictures.

PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie (Nickelodeon Movies/Spin Master Entertainment) has been moved up one week to July24, 2026. The third theatrical feature in the smash-hit preschool franchise is helmed again by Cal Brunker (Escape from Planet Earth, The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature), and follows the PAW Patrol and new dino-expert pup Rex as they tackle a series of high-stakes dinosaur rescues after their arch rival, Humdinger, sparks a volcanic eruption on an uncharted tropical island.

The fully-animated The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender (Nickelodeon Movies; in association with Domain Ent.), based on the critically acclaimed series Avatar: The Last Airbender, has been pushed back from January 30 to October 9, 2026, taking over the TMNT sequel slot. Directed by Lauren Montgomery (Superman: Doomsday, Wonder Woman) and co-directed by William Mata (Dora and the Fantastical Creatures) and exec produced by series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko with Eric Coleman, the movie follows young adult versions of the Bending heroes on a new adventure through the world of Air, Fire, Water and Earth kingdoms. Korea’s Studio Mir was recently announced as the animation studio; Australia’s Flying Bark was previously attached in 2022.

With the Aang Gang taking its place, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 (Nickelodeon Movies/Point Grey Pictures) is now slated for September 17, 2027. Jeff Rowe (The Mitchells vs. the Machines) and Kyler Spears (Amphibia; storyboarder on Mitchells) return as directors, joined by Yashar Kassai (vizdev on Mutant Mayhem, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Mitchells vs. the Machines). The sequel will see the Turtles, April, Master Splinter and the Mutants return and introduce TMNT‘s notorious nemesis, The Shredder.
