Canadian production company Echo Media and Twinkle Teal Entertainment Inc. are joining forces to develop an original animated series inspired by Nebulous Stars, the globally popular brand created by Twinkle Teal Ent. Supported by SODEC, the project is already in development and aims for a wide-reaching broadcast across Canada and internationally.
With 17 bestselling novels, a magazine and an extensive line of creative products that spark imagination, Nebulous Stars is already known to thousands of children around the world. This new animated series continues that story-driven journey, extending the brand’s universe into a new medium. The partners assert the series will ‘bring to life a world filled with kindness, empathy and wonder — offering young viewers a fresh way to connect with the uplifting, inspiring messages at the heart of Nebulous Stars.’ The adaptation will also be a key step in the brand’s long-term strategy to strengthen its IP through sustained audience engagement and international expansion.
Nebulous Stars launched in 2017, offering children aged 6 to 12 — especially young girls — a world centered on themes of creativity, emotional well-being and personal growth. The brand has a presence in over 90 countries and partnerships with major licensing partners such as Panini and Hachette.
“Working with Echo Media means teaming up with a passionate, agile, and strategically brilliant team,” said Geneviève Lecompte, President of Twinkle Teal Entertainment Inc. “Their proven expertise in adapting successful intellectual properties for the screen gives us tremendous confidence in their ability to bring Nebulous Stars to life in all its glory.”
Sarah Chatelain, Producer & VP of Strategic Partnerships at Echo Media, added, “Nebulous Stars is much more than a brand — it’s a universe that profoundly touches children’s imaginations while promoting their inner well-being. It’s a joy and an honor for Echo Media to help shine a light on this exceptional homegrown creation, one that embodies values we wholeheartedly share.”
Joining forces with this strong Canada-born international IP, Echo Media lends its expertise in producing TV and film projects aimed at young audiences and its multi-platform strategies for enduring franchise growth. Among its recent productions are Cross My Heart, Babyatrice (S1-6), Toopy and Binoo (S1-4), Biscuit et Cassonade (S1-4) and Espèces d’ordures (S1-2). Echo Media’s productions are broadcast in over 175 countries and have been recognized both locally and internationally.
