Mofac/Angel Studios’ ‘The King of Kings’ Takes the Crown for Biggest S. Korean Movie at the U.S. Box Office

Mofac/Angel Studios’ recent release The King of Kings, an animated feature about the life of Jesus Christ, as told by Charles Dickens to his son, has become the biggest S. Korean movie in terms of box office in the U.S. Written and directed by Jang Seong-ho, head of Mofac Studios, the movie was released on April 11 and performed very well in the U.S. during the Easter holiday weekend. The film starred renowned Hollywood actors as its voice cast, including Pierce Brosnan, Oscar Isaac and Uma Thurman.

The CG-animated movie has posted a combined $54.51 million in ticket sales at the U.S. box office as of last week since its release on April 11, according to data compiled by its production company, Mofac Studios. The movie has made over $58 million in theaters worldwide. The figure broke the previous record of $53.84 million set by Oscar-winning Korean director Bong Joon-ho’s live-action feature Parasite, which was released in 2019.

The film starred renowned Hollywood actors as its voice cast, including Pierce Brosnan, Oscar Isaac, Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman and Mark Hamill.
