Exclusive Clip: Esperanza Spalding Guest Stars on ‘Alma’s Way’

New episodes of Alma’s Way are coming to PBS KIDS from April 28-30, sharing more colorful animated adventures in New York City from Fred Rogers Productions. Recently greenlit for Season 3, the Emmy-nominated series for kids 4-6 is created and executive produced by Sonia Manzano (Maria on Sesame Street) and is produced in association with Pipeline Studios (Work It Out Wombats!Dora).

Among the new episode highlight will be a guest appearance by jazz bassist and singer-songwriter Esperanza Spalding. In the episode “Subway All-Stars,” Spalding voices a new character named Zelda Jazz, who joins Alma, Eddie and Uncle Nestor in a subway platform jam. Check out an exclusive clip below!

New Episodes:

Big Kid Hangout/Little Brother Loan

  • Alma is excited to hang out with Eddie and his friends, but when the older kids make her feel like she’s little, she gets mad.
  • When Alma is too busy for her little brother, Junior becomes everyone’s pretend little brother. What’s Alma going to do when she misses him?

 

Subway All-Stars/Bunches of Beads

  • Alma, Eddie and Uncle Nestor are doing a special musical performance on the subway, when another musician shows up thinking it’s her day to perform. Is there any way they can all play today?
  • Alma volunteers André to make necklaces for all their friends without asking him first, and André is not happy about it.

 

Alma on the Moo-ve/The Lucas Look

  • When Papi rescues a lost cow, Alma becomes attached to it. How can she convince Papi that Ms. Moo would love living in the Bronx?
  • Lucas gets a cool blue streak in his hair. Why is he upset when Alma, Eddie and Lauren copy his look and get blue streaks, too?
