What’s a road trip without a little music? Peaceful? Meditative? Well, the gruff porcine star of Hitpig! will never know… In a new clip shared with Animation Magazine by our friends at Viva Pictures, the snub-nosed bounty hunter struggles to conduct his precious cargo: An easily distractable, highly distracting elephant named Pickles.
Directed by Cinzia Angelini (Mila) and David Feiss (Cow and Chicken), Hitpig! is based on the bestselling children’s book Pete & Pickles by Pulitzer-winning author/cartoonist Berkeley Breathed (Bloom County), with a screenplay by Dave Rosenbaum & Tyler Werrin (The Lorax) and featuring a music score by Isabella Summers of Florence & the Machine.
Synopsis: Hitpig (Jason Sudeikis) is a clever bounty-hunting pig who catches escaped animals and returns them to their owners. His next job is his biggest yet: return a dancing elephant named Pickles (Lilly Singh) to a maniacal Vegas showman (Rainn Wilson), for a million bucks. The mission quickly escalates into a wild adventure around the world. When danger looms, it is up to Hitpig to save the day but he can’t do it alone. He must realize that some things are more important than a paycheck and finds the greatest bounty of all, friends.
The voice cast also boasts RuPaul, Flavor Flav, Hannah Gadsby, Anitta, Lorraine Ashbourne, Andy Serkis, Charlie Adler and Shelby Young.
The film is produced by Aniventure (Animal Farm, Stitch Head) with animation by Cinesite (The Addams Family 2, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem). Producers are Adam Nagle (Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank, Cracké) and Dave Rosenbaum (Animal Farm, The Secret Life of Pets).
Hitpig! hits U.S. theaters through Viva Pictures on November 1. Read more about the making of the movie in Animation Magazine‘s feature story from the December ’24 here.
