The winners of the first Collision Awards ,which honor animation across all disciplines (marketing and communications, commercials, TV, film, experimental, game and XR), were announced this morning. The awards honor work by studios, production companies, brands, agencies and individuals with a varied list of categories specifically focused on the intersection of creativity and technical skills unique to this community and inclusive of everyone working in the medium of animation and motion design.
“I’m truly impressed with the caliber, quality and variety of work and entrants in our inaugural season. We set out to cement the concept of animation as a medium across a breadth of media and disciplines, and I feel like we’re on our way to achieving it,” says Randeep Katari, Collision Awards General Manager. “From the biggest films in the world to localized campaigns, our winners exemplify that animation is truly a global medium, and I’m excited to see what the future of animation brings,” he continues.
Collision Award Finalists were selected by the Collision Awards Founding Jury which includes: Sarah Cox (Executive Creative Director/Aardman), Marge Dean (Head of Skybound Animation Studio and President/Women in Animation), Ronnie del Carmen (Co-director & writer of Pixar’s Inside Out), Patricia Claire (Founder, Free Agents), Maureen Fan (Chief Executive Officer/Baobab Studios), Holly Jinko Gotoh (Producer Finding Nemo), Jay Grandin (Co- Founder and Executive Creative Director/Giant Ant), Julie Lockhart (Co-Founder and President of Production/Locksmith Animation), Andrew Millstein (Co-Head/Annapurna Animation), Mike Moloney (Founder and Executive Creative Director/Art&Graft), Gilles Monteil (Animation Expert/Ubisoft), Ramsey Naito (President/Paramount Animation and President/Nickelodeon Animation), Phil Rynda (Director of Original Animation, The Pokemon Company International) Charlie Sells (Joint MD/Creative Director at Jelly), and Fred Volhuer (Co-Founder/Atlas V Group).
Collision Awards Winners will be celebrated with a screening and reception at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center at Lincoln Center on July 23rd, 2024
