2024 Emmy Nominations: Three Fresh Newcomers Arrive in the Animation Category

This morning, the nominees for the 76h Emmy Awards were announced by the TV Academy at the El Capitain Theater in Hollywood. It’s refreshing to see new, creative shows such as Netflix’s Blue Eye Samurai, and Max’s Scavenger’s Reign and Disney/Marvel’s X-Men ’97 appearing along long-time Emmy favorites The Simpsons and Bob’s Burgers this year. It should also be noted that Imagine/Disney+’s acclaimed documentary Jim Henson Idea Men was the most nominated project in the documentary category, with eight nominations including Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special, Outstanding Directing for a Documentary (Ron Howard), cinematography (Igor Martinovic and Vanja Cernjul), picture editors (Sierra Neal and Paul Cowder), sound editing and mixing, as well as best score (David Fleming).


Shows eligible for the Primetime Emmys must have been broadcast in the U.S; between 1 June 2023 and 31 May 2024, with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences choosing the nominees. The 76th Emmys will air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. PT/8 to 11 p.m./ET on ABC. The Creative Arts ceremonies are set for Saturday, Sept. 7 and Sunday, Sept. 8.
