Ahead of the Annecy International Animated Film Market (MIFA), Paris-based La Cabane announces the development of the animated series Luce in the Lovely Land in partnership with France Télévisions. Based on the multi-award-winning animated short Luce and the Rock, the preschool series enjoyed a warm reception at Cartoon Forum 2023, was pre-bought by France Télévisions and is co-produced with Thuristar (Belgium) and developed in partnership with Belgian pubcaster VRT-Ketnet.
“France Télévisions is a wonderful partner for this strong and unique project, which is very close to our hearts. We can’t wait to bring Britt Raes’ first series to the screen!” says Perrine Gauthier, co-founder of La Cabane, partner at Thuristar and producer of the series.
Synopsis: This series of colorful and quirky tales features Luce, a curious and daring six-year old who, every morning, opens her little bedroom window to see what’s happening in the Lovely Land. Every day is a new adventure Luce shares with her best friend, a giant Rock! Together, they explore the unexpected, meet surprising creatures and discover other points of view. In a universe brimming with visual and narrative creativity, Luce gives a different outlook on the world.
The 2D-animated, 39 x 7-minute series is written and directed by the original short’s creator, Britt Raes, and produced by Perrine Gauthier.
“I am beyond excited to develop the series with such supportive producing and broadcasting partners,” says Raes. “Luce observes and explores the world with wonder and soon the world will be able to observe and explore the Lovely Land with Luce!”
Distributed by Miyu Distribution and selected for over 200 festivals worldwide, the short film Luce and the Rock has won nearly 40 awards to date. La Cabane and Thuristar have previously co-produced the internationally distributed children’s series Mush-Mush & the Mushables.
