Young Animator of the Year UK (YAY UK) has opened its call for entries for its class of 2024. The industry-run short film competition offers a chance for young animators (ages 11 to 18) across the United Kingdom to get their work in front of professionals, with the aim of discovering, nurturing and celebrating the next generation of animated storytellers.
Entries for the competition may be produced using 2D, 3D or stop-motion animation techniques, running up to three minutes. Films should be submitted by Monday, September 16, 2024.
Selected projects will vie for prizes including the trophies presented at a special awards ceremony, hosted by the Manchester Animation Festival and sponsored by Blue Zoo Animation Studio, and exclusive tours of the U.K.’s top animation studios.
Previous YAY UK winners have gone on to land roles at renowned studios like Blue Zoo and The Mill.
“It was a joy to judge the Young Animator of the Year UK awards last year; I’m still inspired by the work from last year’s animators and can’t wait to see what amazing films they create this year!” said Will Becher, Director at Aardman and YAY UK Judge.
