‘Teddy’s Christmas’ Heads to U.S. Release Starring Zachary Levi

Norwegian family animated feature Teddy’s Christmas has signed on actor Zachary Levi (Shazam! films, Tangled) to voice its titular stuffed toy, with the CG pic set for a winter holiday release in U.S. theaters through Capelight Pictures and Blue Fox Entertainment. Produced by Fantefilm, the movie will head Stateside following its release across several European countries.

Teddy’s Christmas unfolds as a girl named Mariann takes in the magical atmosphere of the Christmas market. Here, she makes a remarkable discovery: On the top shelf of a lottery booth, a sweet teddy bear moves his head and starts sniffling. Mariann resolves to win the cuddly toy, but Teddy has different plans — he dreams of a wealthy owner who can show him all the world has to offer. But when Teddy is taken away to a woodshed, his new hedgehog best friend, Bolla, helps him realize what really matters in life.

The film screened at the Cannes Film Market on Thursday, and Sola Media has already sold the family adventure to more than 100 countries including taly (Lucky Red), France (KMBO), Germany (Capelight), Switzerland (Elite Film AG), Spain (Flins & Piniculas), Hungary (ADS), Romania (Idea Film), Poland (Vivarto), Middle East (Krisco) and Baltics (GPI).

Teddy’s Christmas is already charming audiences well ahead of the holidays, logging more than 350,000 admissions across 550 screens in GAS territories, making it the most successful Norwegian theatrical release. The pic has also made top-five runs in the Baltics, Romania and Hungary.
