Filmax Acquires International Rights to ‘Robotia’

Spanish-Argentinian animated family feature Robotia is gearing up for global rollout, with Filmax picking up international rights and ready to shop the CGI movie to buyers at the Cannes Film Market. The robot-world tale about friendship, soccer and reaching for your dreams aiming for release in 2024.

Synopsis: In a world inhabited by androids, a girl dreams of playing football, despite her family’s ban. Her friends will come to her aid to help her fulfill her wish and to show everyone what they are capable of doing, on and off the football field.

The Robotia movie is directed by Diego Cagide (Minimalitos, La Cocina de Tomás) and Diego Lucero, written by Mariano Alejandro Rojo and Beatriz Iso. The concept was previously presented at the Quirino Awards’ Ibero-American Animation Co-Production Forum, winning the Best Project in Development award from Ibermedia.

The film is produced by Malabar Producciones in Buenos Aires (Minimalitos), based on its children’s television series of the same name, and Dibulitoon (Yoko) in the Basque city of Donostia-San Sebastián, in association with Tropics Creative in Costa Rica, with financial support from INCAA, Ibermedia, Mecenazgo, Animar and the Basque Government.
