Today, global kids and family content distributor Jetpack Distribution announces it has acquired the international rights (outside of China, New Zealand and MENA) for CGI animated series Panda and Kiwi, ahead of MIPTV this month. The deal comprises 52 x 10′ episodes of the comedy-adventure show for children aged four to seven.
A co-production between CCTVA and NHNZ Worldwide, the show has aired on CCTV in China and TVNZ+ in New Zealand.
The story centers on Hehe the Panda and Kiki the Kiwi, and their friends, who are attempting to avoid capture by the infamous wildlife smuggler Ratty Hat while shipwrecked on a mysterious uncharted island in the South Pacific. Hehe and Kiki long for home and embark on an ambitious boat building project. Meanwhile, Ratty dreams up ways to recapture his lost cargo with the help of his robotic minions.
In each episode, the show’s heroes respond to challenges with courage, caring and a sense of humor.
The show’s production team includes Emmy Award-winning writer Ian McGee and Theo Baynton, Managing Director of Wellington animation house Nyuk Nyuk Studios.
Gillian Calvert Ridge, Jetpack’s Global Distribution Director – Acquisitions and Development, says of the pick-up, “A truly original show, with a great concept. Panda and Kiwi has strong values around teamwork, courage, friendship and comedy; and kids across the world will get behind the heroic antics of Kiki, Hehe and their friends, in a stunning and mysterious location!”
