The Animation Showcase — the online streaming platform bringing together the animation community and motion picture industry — is offering a special gift to friends and colleagues to cap off 2022 on a joyful note. Access holders can now stream Dean Fleischer-Camp’s critically acclaimed mockumentary Marcel the Shell with Shoes On.
The feature-length film is free and available to watch in English with Spanish & French subtitles as well as English closed captions. Viewers and also enjoy a behind-the-scenes featurette on the making of Marcel on the platform.
Synopsis: Marcel is an adorable one-inch-tall shell who ekes out a colorful existence with his grandmother Connie and their pet lint, Alan. Once part of a sprawling community of shells, they now live alone as the sole survivors of a mysterious tragedy. But when a documentary filmmaker discovers them amongst the clutter of his Airbnb, the short film he posts online brings Marcel millions of passionate fans, as well as unprecedented dangers and a new hope at finding his long-lost family. A beloved character gets his big-screen debut in this hilarious and heartwarming story about finding connection in the smallest corners.
The film features the voices of Jenny Slate as Marcel and Isabella Rossellini as Connie. The picture has received nominations for the Critics’ Choice Awards, Golden Globe Awards and Film Independent Spirit Awards this season.
