Building on its category breakthroughs in the Academy Awards shortlists, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio (Netflix) picked up two nominations for the Society of Composers and Lyricists’ SCL Awards (thescl.com), including for Outstanding Original Score for a Studio Film (Alexandre Desplat). Other animated nominees include:

The much-lauded stop-motion take on Carlo Collodi’s classic tale also made an impression on the Black Film Critics Circle (theblackfilmcriticscircle.com), which today revealed the winners of 13 categories voted by members at the annual meeting in New York last weekend. Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio was named Best Animated film of the year as well as the Best Adapted Screenplay for del Toro and Patrick McHale (tied with The Whale).
Across the pond, the London Film Critics Circle — the world’s oldest such org — revealed the nominations for its upcoming 43rd awards ceremony, set for Sunday, February 5. While no animated title cracked the covered Film of the Year ceiling, there were a few nods to some of the year’s favorites:
