Prepare to be whisked away to a weird unmapped land as Disney Animation Studios has just dropped a new “Special Look” preview for the upcoming animated adventure, Strange World.
Co-directed by veteran Disney filmmaker Don Hall (Winnie the Pooh, Big Hero 6, Moana, Raya and the Last Dragon), Strange World hits movie theaters on November 23. It centers around the thrilling exploits of the Clade family, a multiple-pronged lineage of legendary explorers as they venture forth to traverse the uncharted planet of Avalonia, accompanied by a rag-tag group that includes a troublesome blob, a three-legged dog, and a menagerie of bizarre creatures.
“Inspired by classic adventure stories,” declared director Don Hall. “Strange World is an original animated adventure/comedy about three generations of the Clade family who overcome their differences while exploring a strange, wondrous and oftentimes hostile world.”
Hall will share the director’s chair with Qui Nguyen, who wrote Strange World’s screenplay.
According to Disney’s official details, this vibrant sci-fi fantasy has a stellar vocal cast that includes: Jake Gyllenhaal as Searcher Clade; Dennis Quaid as Searcher’s explorer father, Jaeger; Jaboukie Young-White as Searcher’s 16-year-old son, Ethan; Gabrielle Union as Searcher’s partner Meridian Clade; and Lucy Liu as Callisto Mal, Avalonia’s brave mission leader.
Produced by Roy Conli and conceived at Walt Disney Animation Studios, Strange World arrives in theaters starting on November 23, 2022. You can read all about the making of the movie in our next month’s super tabloid-size issue (Issue no 325, Dec. 2022).
