Sky Kids Slates Spooky Animated Specials for Halloween

Halloween is creeping up, and Sky Kids is preparing by unveiling spooky new animated and live-action content fit for the season. “We know kids love Halloween, so this year we’re excited to launch new BOO-tiful specials starring some of their favorite characters and bring even more spooky fun to Sky Kids with Gary, the adorable Ghastly Ghoul,” said Lucy Murphy, Director of Kids Content at Sky.

Aimed at ages 5-7, the CG-animated original The Ghastly Ghoul is set to premiere October 7. Starring characters voiced by Ardal O’Hanlon (Father Ted, My Hero), Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda, Æon Flux) and Michael McElhatton (Game of Thrones, The Fall), this half-hour special sees Gary (O’Hanlon), a cute and vibrant little monster who doesn’t believe he’s scary enough, disguise himself as The Ghastly Ghoul.

The show takes viewers on an eerie, enchanted journey as Gary leaves Halloween Town and becomes trapped in the human world, where he soon forms a friendship with a young girl, Beatrix, who is facing her own fears around the spooky holiday. Together they help inspire a sense of self and belief in one another, as they try to find a way to get Gary home again during a Halloween night filled with magic and adventure.

With an aspirational lead female character who is accompanied by her adorable best friend, this show is the perfect trick or treat combination for kids and families alike to feast their eyes upon and enjoy at home this Halloween. The series is produced by multi award-winning studios Lupus Films (The Tiger Who Came to Tea) and Dublin-based Dream Logic (The Christmas Letter).

Also in store and soon to be hitting screens is Tom Gates: A Monster Halloween, premiering October 24 and sketched out for viewers 7+. This special marks the first ever Sky Kids crossover, as an animated version of YouTube superstar DanTDM (Let’s Game) guest stars. The show sees Tom Gates and his friends plan the perfect night of trick and treating with some unexpected help from DanTDM, and chilling twists and turns along the way.

Young viewers and their families can also tune into to the live-action specials MC Grammar’s Halloween Party (premieres October 14, ages 5+) and the 45-minute KIDZ BOP Haunted Halloween (October 21, ages 8+) — both of which are sure to get kids singing and dancing along with frighteningly festive tunes.
