‘Rick and Morty’ Co-Creator Dan Harmon Named Fredrikstad Animation Fest Guest
The Emmy Award-winning writer, creator and producer is heading to Norway for the Oct. 24-27 event, where he will participate in a moderated discussion at the House of Literature in Fredrikstad on Friday evening. Harmon and Justin Roiland created the Adult Swim hit Rick and Morty, which was last year renewed for 70 episodes. He also created and exec produced NBC comedy Community, starred in the documentary Harmontown about his podcast tour, exec produced Oscar nominated animated feature Anomalisa, and is exec producer on VRV’s HarmonQuest S3.

Award-winning Berlin-based Syrian filmmaker Diana El Jeiroudi (Silvered Water, Syria Self-Portrait) and Animal Logic (Australia) founder and MD Zareh Nalbandian (exec producer Happy Feet, The LEGO Movie, Peter Rabbit) join Asia Pacific Screen Awards Chair Garin Nugroho (Indonesia) to determine the winners. NOminees will be announced October 16. The 13th APSA ceremony will be held Nov. 21.

Visual Effects Society Names Acclaimed Filmmaker Martin Scorses Recipient of the VES Lifetime Achievement Award
The Academy, DGA and Emmy Award-winning director-producer-screenwriter(The Wolf of Wall Street, Hugo, The Departed) will be presented with the honor during the 18th Annual VES Awards on January 29. Scorsese joins the ranks of George Lucas, Robert Zemeckis, Kathleen Kennedy & Frank Marshall, Ray Harryhausen, Stan Lee, Jon Favreau, Chris Meledandri and other luminaries of visual storytelling.
