Based on the beloved Pokémon brand — one of the world’s most popular, multi-generation entertainment properties and most successful media franchises of all time — the first-ever live-action Pokémon adventure stars Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) as Detective Pikachu, Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) as Tim and Kathryn Newton (Lady Bird) as Lucy, a junior reporter following her first big story. The supporting cast includes Suki Waterhouse (Insurgent), Omar Chaparro (Kung Fu Panda), Chris Geere (Modern Family), multi-platinum-selling singer-songwriter Rita Ora (Fifty Shades of Grey), Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe (Godzilla) and Bill Nighy (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1).
The film was directed by Rob Letterman (Monsters vs. Aliens), from a story by Dan Hernandez, Benji Samit and Nicole Perlman, screenplay by Hernandez, Samit, Letterman and Derek Connolly, based on the Detective Pikachu video game developed by Creatures Inc.
Synopsis: When detective Harry Goodman goes missing, his son Tim (Justice Smith) and Harry’s former Pokémon partner Detective Pikachu (Ryan Reynolds) join forces to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together on an epic adventure through Ryme City, they uncover a shocking plot that could destroy the whole Pokémon universe.
