CMG Will Haunt AFM with Stephen Fry ‘Canterville Ghost’ Adaptation

Cinema Management Group will be launching worldwide sales for the animated adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s The Canterville Ghost at AFM. The hails from Robert Chandler’s Space Age Films and Gina Carter and Stephen Fry’s Sprout Pictures.

British performer, comedian, writer and presenter Fry will also voice Sir Simon de Canterville, the titular spirit who spends his centuries scaring off anyone who dares move into his stately home. In the film, the ghost’s routine is shaken up when an American family movies into the castle and turns the tables on their unwelcome housemate. Sir Simon teams up with the family’s teenage daughter to uncover the reason for his 300-year-old curse.

The voice cast also features Freddie Highmore, Imelda Staunton and Toby Jones. Production is set to begin in Q1 2019. Kim Burdon (Stressed Eric) is directing; Space Age Film’s Chandler (The Deep) and Sprout’s Carter (Yardie) are producing. Executive producers include Jerry Hibbert (Heavy Metal), Bob Benton (Finding Your Feet), Paul Grindey and Charles Moore (Viewfinder Film), Dené Anderberg and Edward Noeltner (CMG).

CMG has previously backed international animated gems such as the Oscar-nominated Loving Vincent; its current slate includes the upcoming Seal Team (Triggerfish Animation Studio), Ainbo: Spirit of the Amazon (Tunche Films/Cool Beans) and Noah’s Ark: A Musical Adventure (Fabiano Gullane, Caio Gullane & Walter Salles).
