No. 1 kids’ network Nickelodeon has announced a flurry of re-ups for its top shows, including a second season greenlight for the reimagined new 2D take Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Production will kick off at Nickelodeons’s Burbank studio this fall on an additional batch of 26 episodes, following the hilarious and action-packed adventures of reptile bros Raph, Leo, Donnie and Mikey.
Nick has also renewed several of its top-rated live-action series: No. 1 kids’ show (2-11 & 6-11) Henry Danger season 5 (20 episodes); Knight Squad season 2 (10 eps.); The Dude Perfect Show season 3 (15 eps.); and Hunter Street season 3 (30 eps.) The announcements were made at the 2018 Television Critics Association press tour at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in LA.
Season 1 of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles premieres Monday, September 17, with a global rollout across Nickelodeon channels and branded blocks in over 170 territories and countries through fall. The series follows the retooled Turtles as they master new powers, encounter absurd mutants and battle bizarre villains across (and beneath the streets of) New York City.
Rise features the voices of Omar Miller as Raph, Ben Schwartz as Leo, Josh Brener as Donnie, Brandon Mychal Smith as Mikey, Kat Graham as April O’Neil, Eric Bauza as Splinter, and WWE Superstar John Cena as the new arch villain, Baron Draxum.
