Toon town continues to trudge along toward gender equity according to a survey posted by The Animation Guild, Local 839 IATSE on its blog. The Guild reports that of the 4,230 artists, writers and technicians under its jurisdiction in studios in and around Los Angeles, slightly more than 25 percent are women. This marks an increase over surveys taken in October 2016 (23.2%) and April 2015 (20.6%). A breakdown revealed that of the larger studios covered by TAG, Wild Canary, Cartoon Network and Paramount Animation had the highest percentages of female employees.
