Tim Burton and Warner Bros. are opening the tomb of Beetlejuice again. The Hollywood Reporter says the macabre-loving director is in talks with the studio to direct a sequel to his 1988 hit comedy.
The script for the Beetlejuice 2 is penned by Seth Grahame-Smith (Dark Shadows, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) and David Katzenberg (Jeffery’s son) who is also the producer of the TV series The Hard Times of RJ Burger and the upcoming features Gremlins and It.
Of course, it is way too early to hope for the return of Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin to the franchise. But something tells us Danny Elfman will probably be back to score the movie!
The involvement of Michael Keaton, who played the titular ghost, is up in the air at this stage.

And it’s by no means his next movie. That would be Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, which is set up at Fox.
That movie, an adaptation of a Ransom Riggs’ YA novel, has a release date of July 15, 2014.
