Disney Channel to Offer New ‘Winnie the Pooh’ Show

Disney Channel has greenlit a new series featuring A.A. Milne’s beloved bear, Winnie the Pooh. Commissioned by Disney Channel’s EMA division and produced by Welsh indie Boomerang and Italian shop Maga, the new show is called Tales of Friendship with Winnie the Pooh.

The series, which mixes live-action with “book-style motion” animation, will premiere on Disney Junior channels in January, in 21 countries. Disney will also release a series of books in conjunction with the new project.

Beth Gardiner, VP, original programming and development, Disney Junior EMEA, is leading the production process, and has appointed Tracy Bowerman as series producer and Dirk Campbell as series director.
