An Update on Animag’s 10th Annual Pitch Party

We at Animation Magazine wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of our readers and Pitch Party participants and judges for making this tenth edition our most popular event to date.

Some misinformation about the contest has been posted in an article full of factual errors and negative comments about this magazine, its staff, the contest and many very talented professionals who work in the animation industry that have supported this contest in its ten-year history. Therefore, we would like to set the record straight and reiterate a few details about this contest.

The Pitch Party Contest was created as an easy way for people to get their ideas for animated projects evaluated by our volunteer judges, all of whom are exactly the type of development execs these creators need to reach to take their project to the next level.

The feedback the judges provide is only the tip of the iceberg, as entrants also get their ad in front of the large audience of professionals and fans that reads Animation Magazine in print and online via our digital edition and our daily news website. The Pitch Party issue is widely distributed at Comic-Con and is always one of our best-selling and widest-distributed issues each year. Those ads reach a lot of people who love animation and work in the industry. Our magazine staff also is available to entrants to provide feedback and assistance in moving their ideas forward.

We at Animation Magazine do this because we think it’s a valuable service to offer — many of our past Pitch Party winners have had significant success in moving their projects forward — and not because it’s a huge profit center. In fact, the fee the magazine charges for the Pitch Party does not cover the cost to print a page of the magazine.

In short, we just want everyone in the animation community and the artists that we have served for more than 24 years to know that we will continue our mission of providing insightful stories and articles about all of the hard-working and talented people who work in our industry. We promise to continue being a resource and supportive publication for cartoon lovers both amateur and professional alike.
