A Video Sneak Peek at ‘Batman: Year One’

Bat-fans are rejoicing that one of the all-time most-loved comic book stories will be adapted to animation with the release this fall of Batman: Year One from the DC Universe line of original animated features.

The original comic was published in 1986 with a story by Frank Miller and art by David Mazzucchelli, and it told the definitive story of Batman’s early days and the formation of his friendship with Jim Gordon, then just a Gotham City detective..

Now, a sneak peek at this upcoming feature has made it online, featuring comments from executive producer Bruce Timm, voice director Andrea Romana, directors Sam Liu and Lauren Montgomery, and the voice cast. So take a look Batman fans, and tell us what you think:

Whoops. Our original video has vanished, so we present this alternative set of interviews about the project from Gotham Knights Online.

And if that’s not enough, Miller and Mazzucchelli’s Daredevil: Born Again storyline — published by Marvel, also in 1986 — is being used as the basis for Fox’s planned reboot of the Daredevil movie franchise. According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog, Fringe writer Brad Caleb Kane has been confirmed as the scripter for the adaptation. David Slade is set to direct.

The movie will reboot the character, who first made it to the screen in a 2003 feature starring Ben Affleck.
